Volunteering
The Herts East Branch is always in need of volunteers, and some of the work includes:
- collecting money at local shops
- becoming a home visitor (training provided)
- fostering animals until permanent homes can be found
- helping at Branch Flag Days, which entails collecting money and giving out information leaflets
- and simply, giving input on ways the Society can promote itself and its fund raising activities
Donations
Neither the national nor the local branches of the RSPCA receives government aid, so the Society relies on the support of donations from the public to fund its work. The Herts East Branch, for example, helps to support the national society and maintains a uniformed inspector to help prevent animal cruelty. It also assists local pet owners by helping with veterinary expenses, and it helps to re-home cats, which often entails boarding them until suitable owners can be found. Remember, if you give to the RSPCA Herts East Branch, the money helps local animals.
Local Money – Local Animals
There are a number of ways you can help the RSPCA Herts East Branch. You could become a volunteer, or you could help financially by giving:
- monthly or annually by standing order
- a one-off donation.
Remember, if you are a UK tax payer, the government will increase your donation by nearly a third – but only if you complete and sign a Gift Aid form:

Send it along with your donation whether it be a standing order or a one-time gift.
In addition, the RSPCA urgently needs legacies. To those who wish to become benefactors by Will to the Society, the following format is suggested:
Form of Bequest to a Branch for Local Work
I bequeath to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Herts East Branch, the sum of £ ___________, free from all duties and taxes payable at my death and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper Officer for the time being of the said Branch shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustees.
You may also contact the Branch for further details.
Finally, the RSPCA Herts East Branch welcomes donations from local shops and businesses. A product or service can always be used in a raffle to raise funds, and the Society will make sure that you are recognised as a donor. If you could offer either, please contact the Branch on 01462 484 862.
